Naked People Enjoy First July 4 on Point Pleasant Nude Beach
About two months ago, Point Pleasant Beach opened part of its beach to nude sunbathers. It has proven to be a great success. Naked people from far and wide have been coming to Point Pleasant to worship the sun without bathing suits. This 4th of July weekend has been especially meaningful for the nudists.
"I've been working on this beach since it opened," said Officer Sunny Buhnz of the Point Pleasant Police, "and I can tell you that most of the people who come here really appreciate their freedom to be naked." Officer Buhnz has gotten to know many of the regulars at the nude beach. "They're just normal everyday people who don't embarrass easily. The interesting thing is that almost all of the folks who come here seem to be senior citizens, which I guess makes sense. Point Beach has always been a family place, and a lot of these people have been coming here since they were kids, only now they're coming with no clothes on."
The nude beach visitors enjoyed many different nude activities this July 4th. The day started with a friendly naked volleyball tournament. That was followed by nude human pyramids. The winning team made a four level nude pyramid before collapsing. Later, there was a naked "pass the orange" relay where an orange is passed naked person to naked person under their chins. There was also a lot of music and naked dancing with highlights including the nude Limbo, the nude Twist, and the nude Chicken Dance. A few nude sun worshippers were reliving their childhood with a game of nude leapfrog. Others just chose to enjoy the sun and surf in the buff, but everyone had a great time being naked.
One anonymous nude beachgoer said how special it was to be able to celebrate the nation's birthday in her birthday suit. "America is all about freedom, and nothing says freedom like being naked on a beach. Nudity is as American as baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie. My husband and I have been coming to Point Pleasant for almost 60 years now, and this is the first time we've really felt free!"
Officer Buhnz, who was the only clothed person on the beach, said she could see why this beach meant so much to all the naked people. "After spending so much time with nude people, I've really come to understand the appeal of public nakedness. To be honest, if I wasn't on duty, and I was 30 years older, I'd probably be out there doing the limbo with them!"
AARP has taken notice of seniors' love for Point Pleasant's Nude Beach. Accordingly, they have made Point Pleasant's Nude Beach the first AARP officially recognized nude beach. This weekend AARP will be handing out promotional neck wallets, perfect for nudists to carry their ID, credit cards, cash, and of course, AARP cards.
