Ultra-Clean Eating Restaurant Coming to Bay Head
The clean eating trend is becoming more popular all around the country. If you're not familiar with it, clean eating is a diet that excludes processed foods and encourages the eating of fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Advocates believe it is a simple and tasty approach to becoming healthier.
Olive Bartlett has been a follower of clean eating for many years. She credits the diet with restoring her health and is now anxious to share it with others. She will be opening her new restaurant, "Olive's Ultra-Clean Eating Emporium," on Bridge Avenue in Bay Head.
"I used to suffer from so many ailments," said Olive. "I had Pica, Melancholia, Dropsy, Lunbago, and Neuralgia, among others. I tried doctors, but nothing they tried helped. I can't tell you how many prescriptions they gave me! I had given up hope until one day I read about eating clean." Olive said that within a few weeks of changing her diet she was almost completely symptom free. "It was like a miracle! A few fresh fruits and some whole grains and , voila, I'm cured! I knew then I wanted to share what I had discovered."
Olive's restaurant will offer a traditional clean eating menu. Diners will be able to explore all manner of clean foods. Olive points out that there is one thing that sets her restaurant apart from other clean eating establishments.
"There's a reason we call it Ultra-Clean," said Bartlett. "With the dangerous viruses in the world today, I felt it was important that everything about the restaurant should be clean." Olive will wash all foods with a 5% solution of bleach to kill any germs. "The 5% bleach mix is considered acceptable by the FDA and we'll also be sure to rinse the foods thoroughly. What I'm really excited about, though, is our use of UV light."
UV light is known to kill germs. Bartlett plans on using UV lighting as the only source of illumination in the restaurant. Everything including food, furniture, and patrons will be bathed in UV light. "I feel that if you come to restaurant that is going to make you healthy, you don't want to catch a virus while you are there." All restaurant workers will also wear masks, gloves, shoe covers, and face shields.
Olive's Ultra-Clean Eating Emporium will be opening in early September. It won't be long before you are smelling some delicious clean foods and seeing slightly blue tinged light coming from the new establishment.
