Bay-Point Avengers Doing Their Part to Keep Residents Safe

When someone needs our help, we'll be there on the double!
When someone's being bad, we're there to stop the trouble!

We're always on the job, every night and every day,
Unless it's after 6:00, or our moms say we can't play.

- Creed of the Bay-Point Avengers

You may have seen them around Bay Head or Point Pleasant, two young super-heroes guarding the safety of local residents. They call themselves the Bay-Point Avengers. Their motto is, "Keeping you safe from six feet away." Their true identities are unknown, but their super-hero names are Bay Girl and Point Boy and they say those names have nothing to do with where they live.

"It is imperative we keep our identities secret," said Bay Girl. "We wouldn't want some nefarious villain to endanger our families!"

"That's right, Jenny... I mean, Bay Girl," added Point Boy. "My mom would kill me if she found out I was Point Boy."

"She would not, Brian," continued Bay Girl. "Your mom is not a nefarious villain!"

The two friends decided that since they had to wear masks anyway, they would use them to do good in their communities. "We mostly patrol around Bay Head," said Bay Girl. "and it must be working because the town seems pretty safe. Plus, when it gets too cold we can go to the bakery for hot chocolate and cookies."

"Their cookies rock," added Point Boy.

Most days the two superheroes begin their patrol in the late afternoon. They make sure that people don't go any place dangerous or off limits; they remind citizens to wear their masks; and they tell people to pick up after their dogs.

"Our biggest adventure was the Case of the Illegal Parker! We spotted a car illegally parked and we raced to find a police officer to report it," said Bay Girl.

"Yeah, then the officer told the guy to move or he would get a ticket," said Point Boy. "The officer thanked us for our help. Since then, we report in at the Bay Head police station after our patrols, just in case we have to tell them something and so they know we're on the job."

Officer Frank Ferter of the Bay Head Police had nothing but praise for the young heroes. "They're basically harmless and they mean well," he said. "They seem to be good kids and we told them to just be sure to find a police officer if they see any real trouble. As far as I can tell, they mostly like making sure the bakery is safe."

As the afternoon winds down the Bay-Point Avengers can be found atop the slide in the Bay Head playground. "It's a great place to watch for trouble and we can slide into action in a moment's notice," said Bay Girl. After a quick ride on the swings, they report in at the police station. Then it's time to get their bikes and head home.

"It feels good to know you're making a difference," said Point Boy. "We'll be back on the job tomorrow. And whether it's jay walkers, or trespassers, or Thanos, we'll be doing our best to keep everyone safe."

Then the two say their good byes and ride off into the sunset after another afternoon of successful superhero work!
