Brick's Mayor Ducey Announces He is Running in the Mayors Ironman Race
In 2019, Mayor John Ducey of Brick ran in the 6th Annual New Jersey Mayors Ironman Race. It is a grueling race that starts with a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26 mile run. Few mayors are up to the challenge, but two years ago 37 of them competed. Five did not finish. Mayor Ducey, competing in his first Ironman, finished a respectable 14th, just behind Mayor Gamora from Vormir, NJ. Last year the event was cancelled because of the health crisis, but this year the race is back on and Mayor Ducey says he will be ready.
Mayor Ducey will be facing some stiff competition this year. Mayor Thanos of Titan, NJ has won the Ironman competition the last three times it was run, and remains very confident. "It is not arrogance to say that I am the only one who can bring balance to this race," said Mayor Thanos. "I get off to a fast start and then snap (he snaps his fingers), it's like half the competition is gone. If you ask me who will win this year, I can only say, I am inevitable."
The NJ Mayors Annual Ironman Race will be held in early June this year. Mayor Ducey plans to use every available moment to get ready for the competition. "My goal is to finally defeat Mayor Thanos," said Ducey. "I know not everyone thinks that's possible. Even my friend Dr. Strange said I have a one in 14,000,605 chance of winning, but the way I see it, that's still a chance. I'm just looking forward to winning this for Brick. I want to stand atop the victor's podium, look Thanos in the eye and say, 'I am Ironman.' That would be the best ending anyone could imagine."
