Local Realtor Plans to Swim Length of the Canal for Charity
Bay Head realtor, Ward Jameson, is training to swim the length of the Point Pleasant Canal to raise money for charity. "This beautiful canal, with its recently upgraded bulkheads and bay views, is perfect for anyone interested in swimming," said Jameson. "With its ideal location and excellent flow system, all you need to do is jump in!"
Molly Jameson said she is very proud of her husband Ward, "He's a great husband and father; plus, he's a topnotch realtor. I know raising money for this charity is very important to him because he also suffers from SLARS."
SLARS, or Speak Like A Realtor Syndrome, is a rare condition that affects some realtors. Those who suffer with SLARS find that they can only express themselves by speaking like a real estate listing."Ward can't help it," said Molly. "It's just become the way he talks now. He might be passing the mashed potatoes at dinner and say, 'These potatoes, with their fluffy texture and buttery taste, make the perfect starter dish for any family. Don't wait! These potatoes won't last!' In some ways it's nice because he almost always says positive things. Although, on occasion he'll get mad and call me 'a unique fixer upper' or 'handy-man special.' Those kinds of comments can be a little hurtful."
Ward Jameson hopes everyone will help this worthy cause. "If you're in the market for a new charity or just want to downsize to a smaller charity, look no further than SLARS! You can expect a great return on your investment. Don't forget the three 'Ds' of charity: Donation! Donation! Donation!"
Since Jameson has only been swimming for less than a year, he was asked why he would choose to swim the canal. "The canal is centrally located near all that the Jersey shore has to offer. With easy access to multiple waterways, my swim commute for charity should be a breeze! Plus, its wide banks are perfect for entertaining onlookers! This canal is sure to delight!"
Molly Jameson hopes that her husband's swim will make a difference. "People don't realize how awful SLARS can be to a family. I worry about how it is affecting our children. Just the other day I heard our six-year-old daughter say, 'This dollhouse features and open floorplan creating an airy ambiance for Barbie to enjoy.' I don't think that's normal."
Ward Jameson plans on making his canal swim in March. Financing is available for those who would like to make a donation.
