Stickers at CVS Drive-thru Best Form of Advertising

Anyone who has ever used the drive-thru at the Point Pleasant Beach CVS has seen them: stickers from various local businesses. All around the pick-up window, people have placed ads for stores, web sites, organizations, radio stations, etc. The display is haphazard, but apparently the stickers are proving to be one of the best ways to advertise.

Bob Ayega, owner of John Wick Candles in Bay Head, says his business has almost doubled since he started advertising at CVS. "People come in all the time and say, I saw your sticker at the CVS drive-thru. I've put ads in newspapers and Facebook, and they did squat. This CVS thing is a goldmine!"

The owner of the vegetarian restaurant, Burgers and Dogs Without Cows or Hogs, describes similar results. Tom Otto said business jumped when one of his stickers was placed on the CVS drive-thru sliding drawer. "It was great. People would sometimes come straight from CVS to try one of our burgers. Unfortunately, some fake news web site put their sticker over ours and we lost our advertising. I'm having bigger stickers made to take my space back!"

Tom Otto's story points out how competitive it has become in the CVS drive-thru advertising game. Most people who place stickers are respectful of others and try to find empty spots to place theirs. But as the drive-thru window gets more crowded with stickers, people are getting more cutthroat. It might not be long before the sticker of the weird, shirtless hairy guy with the red cup gets covered up.

CVS customer, Anita Newdrug, says she is a longtime fan of the drive-thru advertising. "Face it, you're sitting at the drive-thru window for 2 or 3 or 20 minutes waiting for your meds, you often have nothing better to do than look at the stickers. If I see something interesting, I look it up on my phone, and sometimes it's a great find. So far, I've found my chiropractor, a vegetarian burger place, a surf shop, and my divorce attorney just from the stickers."

The manager of the CVS Pharmacy, Phil Myscript, said that they don't have plans to remove any stickers. "We tried to take them down, but people just put-up new stickers. We decided it was best to just ignore it. Plus, it gives customers something to read while they wait." Myscript said there is one exception to the rule. "Some joker put up a Walgreens sticker. I got rid of that right away. They can advertise on their own drive-thru."
